which pool?

ok i know its been beat to death guys but before i buy i want to be sure of this, wich pool do you recomend im a mobile dj, mainly parties some weddings. mymp3pool zipdj or djcity. what the advantages?

Definitely not mymp3pool - I had a terrible experience with them. I hear DJcity is pretty nice.

mymp3pool's quality of tracks are shitty, stay away. If quality is not of concern, mymp3pool is alright.

Djcity makes dl'ing a little difficult but its worth the extra steps befcause they're quality has never dissapointed. With DJcity you will NOT find a huge backlog of hits of all eras. It's mostly new stuff with few throwbacks and a lot of remixes, some remixes of older joints too. Wedding parties mostly want the originals. Redrums you can get away with.

This leads me to DMS..... www.directmusicservice.com by legendary DJ Kevin Scott. DMS has a HUGE collection. It is expensive but WELL worth it for the backlog of songs of ALL genres and eras. Perfect for weddings.

I use DMS and DJcity. Pay for the quality!

Hamza doesn't know what he's talking about. Brian, take it from me. I play 3 nights a week or more. My team has up to 20 bar/club/odd gigs per week.

My best advice is to NOT limit yourself to one pool. BUT, if I was starting fresh and didn't care about getting a backlog of edits then I would go with DJcity or this ZipDj that get's great reviews here on DJF.

Also, don't shy away from the pay per dl sites like yourremix, crooklyn clan, beatport and others. There are some absolute GEMS in those pools.

Not true. Buy a month subscription to DMS and then come back and post. They put new music up almost every day. They are cool enough to keep a backlog. Over 8000 edits. Amazon doesn't put up dj edits. Again, DJcity is also an awesome pool too.

hole up... Definitely make sure what you really gonna be doing more of... as a mobile DJ before you get real committed to one for a long period of time...

If you doing college parties, frat stuff, soror stuff, house parties, etc. yeah ok use beatport or whatever other club, remix pool out there.

However... unless you get hooked up with a local promoter and do lots of promoted/official parties, you not gonna make much moola unless you also spinning at a club or whatever.

So if you end up doing proms, weddings, etc. You need to have clean stuff, non-remixed stuff, and yes.. .maybe even country stuff. ZipDJ is the bomb.com for wedding DJ's. There is also a sticky in the General DJ thread I think.... an on-going collection of pools:

Probably depends on the pool and your region.

I tried zipDJ and found it excellent for the most part, especially for Top 40 and its remixes. It is legal and is AVLA approved in Canada.

DMS is a really good pool but it is pricey. i suggest getting 2 pools. DMS has a lot of good DJing tools that could make your mixing more creative. Also, they have a LOT of old school stuff. I suggest you going for the Pro service, which is $65 with unlimited downloads; just download all the tools, old schools, and such for that month and you will definitely get your moneys worth. At the same time subscribe to DJcity or zipdj. I personally use DJcity, but i heard zipdj is just as good, if not better (cannot say i never used it but they get good reviews), for your top40 and remixes.
