I can get a pack of 100 10mm uv LEDs for 7.00, if I was to buy 10 packs that would be 1000 LEDs! I would only use these for neon parties, so I don't want a dedicated spot on my truss used for them.

But here's my idea- have two freestanding sticks of it about a max of 8 feet high or more each, and have them break down in two foot sections. There would be a master stick on each side, and daisy chain them up to that, and that master would be dmx dimmed. What r ur thoughts?

If you're not good at soldering you will be by the time you're done. why not just get shop fixtures are 4 foot tubes, the tie them onto your light stands?

I'm thinking about that or buyin led cans, you can't find pcb that size.

The shop lights are the best bang for the buck, with led UV lights you pay a lot more and they don't quite put out the right UV wavelengths so you really just get purple light.

I always wondered about that. How many 48" would I need for say 100 people?

for upto 100, I'd say 2 fixtures mounted high up (over 10 ft) would get satisfactory coverage.

RE: DIY LEDs I'm building DIYed single color pucks for uplighting, and finding the build process to be relatively simple and the overall per fixture cost to be reasonable, at under $15 each. Right now, I have a green one done. It's 72 LEDs make for a brightness and a beamspread that's roughly equivalent to a PAR38 pinspot. I'm also using 5MM LEDs.
