After about 10 years of thinking about it.....I finally did it and made a custom rack that stores everything in one simple box. Made it to hold all the gear, the computer and the monitor that I use. It has a pull out keyboard / mouse tray, a place for the headphones, and other items as well as all the controls that get used all the time in easy reach. The monitor folds up and down for easy transport.
Here is the rack as standing in front of it. Keyboard tray is pulled out.

picture with the monitor is down. It will rest on a piece of foam. I have recently painted the bracket black.

Questions,questions and even more Question.
why? an all-in-one box.
what gear do you have in there.
Djing, or production?
is it open in the back? heat compensation?
did you DIY?

Looks like it's a setup for mobile work and it's all in one for time savings when setting up.

Sorry all, been a busy week. Let me try to answer these for you.
1. Everything in one box for ease of setting up and packing up at the end of a show. We are a mobile DJ and just wanted to be able to setup the sound rather fast. We have actually used this 3 times now and the setup of the sound went from around 25 minutes to about 3. We basically pop off the cover, lift the monitor, plug in the DMX wire for the lights, speakers, and power to their receptical on the outside of the box. Power on and were running.
2. I carry all my sound / light gear inside of this box. There are no other boxes that are needed. I wanted to keep the size down due to how heavy it was going to be. It is a little heavy, however nothing that I can't handle. My first job with it was actually at a bar I dj at quite a bit and they have about 10 steps up into the bar that I need to go. Placed it on the two-wheeler and no problem. As far as what gear is in there. 2 Amps, Crossover, EQ, BBE Maximizer, Wireless Mic, Power Supply, CD Player/Controller (for backup and incase anyone brings a cd), mini-computer, mixer, Light controller, Freekie Light Controller, Computer monitor.
3. There are 2 large flip down compartments that are located in the back. 1 is above where the computer is located and the other is down by the amps. I left both of them open for the first gig, however for the 2nd gig I left them closed for a while just to test how hot it would get in there. I was actually surprised that there was little to no heat. Since I built it a little deeper than most cases, it gives it a little more air around equipment and thus making it flow better around the amps. I did leave them down again for the 3rd show, just to be safe.
The complete project was DIY. I did think about this thing for about 5 years...so I have plenty of time to think about how I wanted to make it work. I started with some 5/8" plywood. Cut, Glued, and Nail Gunned together. It was rather easy to complete, just remember to square everything....measure twice...cut once also is a must. The layout of the monitor took the most time as I wanted to make sure that it was able to lie down and not interfere with anything else. Also, making the bracket for the monitor was interesting....took some time, however turned out nice.
I have a gig this Friday. I will get some pictures of the completed project, as well as maybe a little setup video so you can see exactly how easy it is.

I like it. it looks very practical.
maybe I like it because it looks virtually identical to my two piece off the shelf Odyssey rack?
