Hello DJ's,

I was listening to "Tonight I am Loving You" by dj nyk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9RVSr-vSKI

The part in the above mix between 2:00 to 2:14, I would like to know how to create a "rocket effect" on the voice.

I was also listerning to "Rolling In The Deep" Tiesto remix

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9_CqXsMxN8

The part in the above mix between 1:03 to 1:20, could you please let me know how is it possible to "hang on" that note in the song for a long duration?

I have the following gear

2 X CDJ-900 (Pioneer)
1 X Numark X9 Mixer

Many thanks in Anticipation.

Best Regards,
John Joseph

Rocket effect? Are you talking about the build up?
If so, it sounds like he's using a ping pong delay with a gater. It might just be a gater on top of the original track.

On the second track, I don't think you can really achieve that sound unless you actually produce the track that way. You could put a 1 beat loop on the part of the vocals, and do some fader throws to try and create the same effect, but that would require you to have one track playing the instrumental while you hold the acapella on the other track. You can do something similar with a beatmasher.

I don't know how you would do either of those things on your gear, but at least you know what they are now.

They're both production techniques, done in the studio before a DJ gets his hands on it.
