guy wants to sell it on cl for that. I offered him $100 or $225 if he puts it back together. waiting on a response and stuff. said he will put it back together for $225 but the case is all messed up and needs to be painted no problem.

I paid $150 for the exact same situation, but I kept it disassembled on pickup, makes for easier mods.

I haven't heard from him again

True. My seller did plug it in and spin it to show that the motor was running. The only screws installed were the three holding the board/motor/spindle on, for testing.

just talked to him again and I guess the other person didnt want it. He now said he would want $260 if he puts it back together so im thinking of passing now since I can get a mk3 for $300 put together and running.

If you grab a well conditioned M3D for $300, it's a no-brainer in my book.

LOL, I hope you went with the MK3. $260 now? This dude would be lucky to get $200 for it (put together). These are quality decks, but just because they discontinued them doesn't mean they should be over priced. I have one with no feet and no one wanted to buy it for $250(before being discontinued), so now I just have it in case I need parts. Sorry, I just hate how people sell things that aren't worth what their real value is. I hope you bought something you are happy with man! Stay vinyl...

So this guy still has the turntable and won't lower the price. I saw one go for $175 that was complete.

Even if I know how to fix Techs, I still wouldn't get it at that price. $175 disassembled would be ok. So the one you saw at $175 complete, is a steal.
Go and get it now! :)

Dudes trying to get $450 each for complete (but still well used) ones here...nah...not when I've bought more than one in the past for the $100-ish range!
